SHIRLEY K.
Age 90, of Longwood at Oakmont, formerly of Fox Chapel, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. Beloved wife of the late William E. Lewellen, III; dear sister of Marlene Gentry (Jim) and the late Martin Kennedy, Ellen Nash and Mike Kennedy; cherished aunt of Mark Gentry (Carol), Teresa Shepard, Denise Williams, Wendy Short (Dan), Tim Kennedy, Steve Kennedy, Isaac Kennedy, Cindy Magner (Todd) Kevin Nash (Janene) and John Kennedy; also survived by many great and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Shirley was born and raised in southern Indiana. She earned a teaching degree at University of Louisville and taught in the Louisville area. Shirley and Bill moved to various cities as he advanced through numerous positions with United States Steel Corporation. They made their final move back to the Pittsburgh area and made Fox Chapel their home for almost 50 years. Shirley was a volunteer at St. Margaret's Hospital and served on their Auxiliary Board. She enjoyed playing tennis and paddle with her friends as well as cheering on the Pittsburgh sports teams.
No visitation. A private graveside service will be held at Hancock Chapel Cemetery, Depauw, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial contributions in Shirley's memory to the St. Margaret Foundation or the Hancock Chapel Cemetery Fund.
