On February 27, 2026, Shirley R. Ruege, 92, of Wexford, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.
Shirley shared 57 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, the late Charles F. Ruege. She dedicated 40 years of service as a volunteer at Passavant Hospital, where her leadership and commitment eventually led her to serve as Board President.
Following a brief retirement, Shirley embraced her lifelong passion for baking and became the pastry chef at the Wexford Post Office Deli, delighting many with her delicious creations. She especially loved the holidays and took great joy in planning family birthday parties and reunions, bringing everyone together with warmth and care.
She is survived by her two daughters, June (James) Kelley of Gibsonia and Susan (Larry) Barber of Slippery Rock; her three grandchildren, Ginger McDeavitt, Jessica Barber, and Larry Barber; and her three great-grandchildren, Morgan Barber, Sophia McDeavitt, and Diesel McDeavitt.
Shirley was known for her kind words and bright smile, which she shared generously with everyone she met. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family and friends.
