SISTER YVONNE

Sister Yvonne Dursh OSF, age 83, of Warrendale, passed away on January 30, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Alphonse and Helen (Wenslow) Dursh; niece of Dianne Wenslow; and the cousin of Donna Pennell.

Sister Yvonne Dursh was born in Pittsburgh and dedicated most of her years of Franciscan ministry to western Pennsylvania. At Duquesne University, she prepared for work as an educator, school librarian and, in later years, as a chaplain to incarcerated youth and adults at centers in Waynesburg and New Castle. She began her religious life in 1960, with the Sisters of St. Francis in Whitehall, who were her teachers at St. Casimir's High School on Pittsburgh's South Side. In 2012, she became part of a newly merged congregation, Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities.

Rooted in the love of God and the Gospel life taught by Christ, she touched others with a quiet radiance - a profound calm and trust that was contagious. Even in her final years of fragile health, this focus on every neighbor's need drew others with magnetic power. In this way, she was God's presence to all. She is survived by her Franciscan sisters and family. The community thanks the staff of Bethany Hospice, the Province of Wexford and her dialysis team at DCI.

Viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, St. Aidan Parish, St. Alexis Church, 10090 Old Perry Highway, Wexford, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment at Mt. Alvernia Cemetery.
