STEPHEN "STEVE" CHARLES

Stephen "Steve" Charles Toth, 86, of Canonsburg, PA, passed away on March 17, 2026, in Deerfield Beach, FL. He was born on October 18, 1939, in Canonsburg to Steve Toth, Jr. and Anna (Drost) Toth. He was the younger of two children, along with sister Margie Ann Bock (deceased).

Steve and his late wife Carole Marie (Falkenhan) are survived by six children: Pam Redding (Michael), Guy Toth (Wendy), Janet Hawkins (Jeff), Jay Toth (Brandy), Scott Toth (Dinna) and Kay Staebler (Ken). He also had nine grandchildren: Madison Dembin, Ryan Toth, Jacob Toth, Emily Hawkins, Allison Hawkins, JT Hawkins, Caitlyn Staebler, Abigail Staebler, and Camryn Toth. He was also an uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Steve was a proud Navy veteran who graduated from California University of Pennsylvania. He met his late wife Carole, who he married in 1965, while working at Mayview State Hospital before pursuing a career with the State of Pennsylvania.

Steve was known for many things but none more than his love of gardening. He was especially popular in the neighborhood at harvest time as his generosity was appreciated by many. It was not unusual for him to walk the neighborhood with baskets of vegetables, talking to friends upon delivery. Steve continued this tradition during his time in Florida, making new friends in short order.

He was an avid reader and sports fan who traveled with his sons and sons-in-law to over 32 baseball parks. These annual trips were treasured by dad and sons alike, especially if the famed "blue mints" made the trip. Steve enjoyed books, but newspapers were his true love. He followed current events in every city where he had family and could recite the weather in these locations with ease. Letters to his children continued throughout his parenthood and always contained personalized newspaper clippings he knew would be enjoyed.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 10 AM at St. Michael's Byzantine Church in Canonsburg. Interment to follow at Queen of Heaven with full military honors.
