Alexandria, VA - Suzanne Garner Leggett, born on March 26, 1935, in Washington, D.C., passed away peacefully, on June 12, 2026, at Goodwin House, in Alexandria, Virginia, at the age of 91.

Mrs. Leggett graduated from George Washington High School in Alexandria in 1953 and was in the 1957 graduating class of Longwood College in Farmville, Virginia. She was a member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma (Tri Sigma) sorority.

Suzanne had a great passion for colonial U.S. history, antiques, and genealogy, which she shared with her husband of more than 50 years, the late Dr. Wilson D. Leggett III. Together they researched and co-wrote an extensive book about each of their family's ancestry. Mrs. Leggett further pursued her interest in colonial history as a proud member of the National Society of Colonial Dames of America and the Mount Vernon chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

The daughter of Robert Williamson Garner and Mamie Ayres Garner, she was a devoted mother to her two sons who survive her, Wilson D. Leggett IV of Centennial, Colorado, and Robert G. Leggett of Alpharetta, Georgia. She is also survived by her five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, whom she cherished. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren recently celebrated her 90th birthday with her, an event which she enjoyed immensely. She was much loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

While she lived many places within the U.S. during her lifetime and traveled out of the country several times, she always considered Virginia her home, especially the Northern Neck. She will be laid to rest next to her parents and other family members in the Melrose Methodist churchyard in Lottsburg, Virginia, near Lewisetta.
