THEODORE

Of McKees Rocks, Theodore "Ted" James Babin, Sr., passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026, in Wexford, PA, at the age of 96. Born on February 17, 1930, in McKees Rocks, PA, Ted was blessed with a rich and full life with the love of family and respect of acquaintances and colleagues.

Ted was married for 73 years to the love of his life Dolores ("Dee") Tkacik (b. 1932, d. 2025). He was devoted father to Theodore J. Babin, Jr. (Allison), Cynthia Babin Anderson (David), and Gregory Babin (Janine), and beloved grandfather to Nicholas Babin (Stephanie), Andrew Babin (Lexi), William Anderson (Rachael), and Bethany Anderson Frank (Colt), along with numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was "Uncle Teddy" to many nieces and nephews.

Ted served in the US Army in Korea and was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service in a combat zone. While serving in the Army, he became a stenographer and spent a long and rewarding career as a court reporter in the Allegheny County Court system.

His children thank him for the generosity and love he showed them through the years, giving them wonderful travel adventures, cultural enrichment, Steeler games, family picnics, and Disney trips. He showed the same love and attention to his grandchildren Nick, Andy, Will, and Beth, who will cherish the time spent with Grandpa.

Ted was a devout and active parishioner of Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church in McKees Rocks for his entire life and served the church and the community as a pirohi worker for many years.

Family and friends are welcome to the SZAL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 238 Helen Street, McKees Rocks on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. where Parastas will be held at 7:00 p.m. The Panahida Service will begin at the funeral home on Tuesday June 23, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at 12:30 p.m.
