Thomas J. Kane, 93, of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on September 27, 1932, to the late Thomas Kane and Clara (McCrea) Kane. A man of honor and resilience, he served his country with distinction as a United States Marine during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return to civilian life, he transitioned from the front lines to serving his local community, beginning a storied career with the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire. He rose to the rank of Captain, Thomas "Killer" Kane embodied the values of bravery, discipline, and "Semper Fi"-loyalty that he extended most fiercely to his family.
He is survived by his four children: Mary Groman; Regina Mahouski and her husband, Paul; Thomas K. Kane and his late wife, Darcy; and Linda Ciesielski and her husband, Robert. He was the cherished grandfather of seven: Julie Lawrence (David), Matt Groman (Jenna), Sara Stark (Joseph), Marissa Tomasic (Brandon), and Dylan, Mariah, and Alaina Kane. He was also the doting great-grandfather of seven: Aviannah, Chase, Christopher, Joshua, Maria, Grayson, and Blake.
Thomas was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Theresa (DelGaudio) Kane.
Services will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026. Family and friends are invited to gather for a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00 AM at Mother of Sorrows Church, Murrysville. Entombment private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Pittsburgh Firefighters Foundation, 120 Flowers Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15207.
