THOMAS K. EICHENLAUB Obituary

EICHENLAUB

THOMAS K.

Age 68, of Indiana Twp., passed away, on June 3, 2025, after a valiant battle with lung disease. He was predeceased by his parents, Anne and Carl Eichenlaub, Jr.; and is survived by his brothers, Carl (Jody), Daniel (Barbara), John (Polly), David (Renee) and Paul (Jane); as well as nieces and nephews, Anne Micsky (Michael), Reed (Saliha), Sarah, Michael, Carl Edward, Kaitlin and Jeannine Eichenlaub; and great-nieces and nephews, George, Teddy, Max and Teresa Micsky and Savannah Turrubiartes. He is also survived by cousins; and his beloved dog, Remi.

Tom was a graduate of Fox Chapel Area High School and Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He was founding brother of Eichenlaub Landscape Contractors, where he worked for over 50 years. There, he helped to grow the company from a simple mowing operation into a business that performed complicated construction projects, many of which required his talented expertise. However, his impact on the community was most felt through his volunteerism. There was not a cause, need or person that Tom would not help. He joined the Fox Chapel Volunteer Fire Department at age 16, and, during 50 plus years, he was the long-time Assistant Fire Chief, receiving the Hap Humes Memorial Award, as well as Firefighter of the Year. There, he mentored many youth firefighters and led fire rescue training, both at Fox Chapel and throughout the Lower Allegheny Valley. He was also active in the Dorseyville Fire Department and was a paramedic with their ambulance service.

Mentoring was a big part of Tom's life. While he had no children of his own, he was always there to guide and help his nieces and nephews, Boy Scout Troop 625, members of the community and at-risk youth. He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, cooked meals for the homeless and delivered food for Meals on Wheels, even when he was tethered to an oxygen tank. He was a daredevil and outdoorsman who enjoyed high adventure activities such as skydiving, motorbiking, archery, rappelling and water sports as well as travel. A kind and affable person, whether he went into a hardware store or restaurant, it seemed the entire staff knew his name- because he took the time to learn theirs and always make them feel special.

He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched, his impact will be felt for years and he has left a hole in our hearts that will remain forever.

Visitation will be at PERMAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., 923 Saxonburg Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15223, on Thursday, from 3-7 p.m. and Friday, from 3-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's Church-Christ the King Parish, 342 Dorseyville Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15215, on Saturday, at 12 noon, (meet at the church). The family respectfully suggests donations be made to Habitat For Humanity Allegheny Valley, 226 Freeport St., New

Kensington, PA 15068 or a charity of your choice.
