Pittsburgh, PA - Age 93, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Indiana and Youngwood, died Friday, April 24, 2026.

He was born August 1, 1932, in Youngwood, the son of the late Morris E. and Mary (Magill) Beck. Tom was a graduate of Youngwood High School and earned his bachelor's degree from Slippery Rock in 1954 and a master's degree from Duquesne in 1961 following a two-year stint in the U.S. Army.

He earned four letters in basketball and two in soccer at Slippery Rock and was the team's co-captain and a first-team AIIPSAC West selection his senior year. He stepped in as the men's basketball coach at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1983 and led the team to the conference playoffs each season, including a pair of trips to the semifinals. He was inducted into the Slippery Rock Hall of Fame in 1993 and into the IUP Hall of Fame in 2010.

Tom is survived by his wife, Dorothy June (Turney) Beck; his children, David (Joan), Greg (Blair), Daniel, and Christi Beck (Anthony); his grandchildren, Nicolas Beck, Hannah Zatlyn (Sam), Olivia Beck, Lena Beck, Savanah Beck, Cole Beck, Mason Beck, Allyson Hartley, and Morganne Shute; a sister, Marilyn Brown of Youngwood; and also several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., with Rev. Andrew Fritz officiating. Interment will follow in St. Clair Cemetery, Greensburg.
