THOMAS "TOM" MARK
Thomas "Tom" Mark Anthony, 74, of Spring, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025.
Tom was born in Pittsburgh, August 31, 1950, the son of John Howard (Red) Anthony, a WWII veteran retired from Union Switch & Signal, and his wife Anna Barbara Brattina.
Tom grew up in Swissvale and graduated from Swissvale High School before earning his degree in Chemistry from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Tom earned his master's degree from University of Texas in San Antonio.
Tom was a devoted educator who used his love and knowledge of science to inspire countless students throughout his career. With a passion for teaching Physical Science, Chemistry, and Physics, he was known for challenging young minds and encouraging curiosity. Tom spent the majority of his professional life in Klein ISD, dedicating 34 years of service before retiring in 2006.
On August 19, 1972, Tom married Mary D. McCarthy. The couple began their journey together in San Antonio, Texas, eventually settling in Spring, TX in 1980, where they raised their two children, Sarah and Ryan.
Tom had a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. He enjoyed working in his garage, tending to his yard, collecting stamps, and restoring his beloved blue Volkswagen Beetle and Karmann Ghia. A man of great patience and kindness, Tom never met a stranger and made everyone feel welcomed in his presence.
Above all, Tom was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He took great pride in supporting his children and found immeasurable joy in being "Papa" to his grandchildren, Piper and Braddock. Whether in the bleachers at a game or celebrating their achievements, Tom was always their biggest fan.
Tom was predeceased by a sister, Susan Anthony McKee, of Pittsburgh. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Debbie Anthony; his daughter, Sarah Rioux and her husband Andy; his son, Ryan Anthony and his wife Dana; and his cherished grandchildren, Piper and Braddock; and by his siblings Nina Florence, Charles John, and Barbara Ann.
His legacy of love, learning, and loyalty will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
