In June 1954, he married Lois Anne Dembrowski, a marriage spanning 70 years bearing much fruit and happiness for both. Valentine had a lifelong career (34 years) with the U. S. Postal Service as a letter carrier and a recording secretary. After retirement as a letter carrier, he became a Union representative for NALC Branch #84 for several years. He, along with the beautiful Lois, raised a wonderful family. Val played softball, golf, bowled and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and boating at his family cottage in Pymatuning, PA. He was a lifelong stamp and coin collector and loved to travel and paint. He was an avid sports fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers.
