Victor P. "Phil" Gottschall passed away on March 29, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Surviving him are his two children, Teresa M. Rubenstein and Nicholas P. Gottschall; his grandchildren, Hall, Nicholas, and Audrey Rubenstein; his sister, Virginia Carson; his brother, Carl Gottschall (Eileen); and his first wife, Candace. His wife, Geri; and his parents, Walter C. and Rosalie P. Gottschall, predeceased him. Phil was born on June 28, 1941, in Pittsburgh, PA. He attended Mt. Lebanon public schools, and except for when he was away for educational purposes, lived in Pittsburgh all of his life. He had a great affection for Pittsburgh. Phil graduated from Harvard College, cum laude, and from Harvard Law School. He worked as legal counsel for Jones & Laughlin Steel Company and for Ampco-Pittsburgh. He was a member of the Mount Lebanon United Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be held for him at the church at a later date.
