VINCENT
On Saturday, May 9, 2026, Vincent Fung, of Pittsburgh, PA, formerly of Las Vegas, NV, passed away at the age of 85. Son of the late Hoy and Lorraine (Christoff) Fung; brother of Kathleen (late Jack) Rodgers, Jan (Kathy) Fung, late Karen (late Fred) Yee, and late Joe (surviving, Linda) Fung; nieces and nephews, Jay Fung, late Amanda Fung, Brian (Lori) Fung, Corey (Aurelia) Fung, Jason (Anne) Fung, Krystal (Thaddeus) Schau, Kaitlyn Fung, Michelle (Tim) Caslin, Jackie (Michael) DePolo, Ken (Mai) Yee; and many great-nieces and nephews.
Vince graduated from Bellevue High School and briefly attended Penn State University, where he studied forestry. He had a great love of nature. He served in the National Guard.
He played drums in high school and then taught his younger brothers, Jan and Joe how to play, introducing them to their first marching group, the Indianettes. He followed Drum Corps International (DCI).
He was the owner, together with his sister Karen, of the Bellevue Tea Garden, one of the first Chinese restaurants in Pittsburgh that was started by their father Hoy Fung in 1926. Under their leadership the restaurant expanded to a new location in 1985, where it remained until its closure in 2000.
Vince was an avid Steelers fan and reader, often reading two books at a time. He would even mark the time he finished reading on the bookmark in each book.
He loved to go on nature rides into the forest and up in the mountains. He was very proud of his classic car, an Oldsmobile '98 convertible that he had bought new in 1970. This car was often used in parades in Bellevue for the police chief or the latest debutant. He gave his prized possession to his nephew Brian, who continued to take him for rides lately in North Park and to Cook's Forest.
Upon his retirement Vince moved to Las Vegas, which was always his dream. For a short time he was a security guard in control of the gate at his condominium complex. Vince was very sociable and made friends easily. He enjoyed the Las Vegas lifestyle, including gambling, but even more so the desert mountains and landscape.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., at the LAWRENCE T. MILLER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 460 Lincoln Avenue, Bellevue. A Blessing Service will be held following visitation at 8:00 p.m. Interment will be private.
