VIRGINIA M. "GINNY" (NICHOLAS)

Virginia M. "Ginny" (Nicholas) Ortman, age 88, of Berkeley Hills, died Saturday, July 12, 2025. Beloved wife for 51 years of the late John C. Ortman. Loving mother of Brian Ortman (wife Dori Cameron) and devoted grandmother of Joseph and Emily Ortman.

Known throughout Pittsburgh as "The Cake Lady," Ginny was an exceptional baker who created hundreds of masterpieces, including for some of the region's most well-known families. An avid walker who braved five miles daily in any weather, she also excelled at knitting and sewing. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren-her extraordinary devotion as a grandmother will forever be her most treasured legacy.

Service for family and friends Saturday, August 2, 2025, 11:00 a.m., Berkeley Hills Lutheran Church, where Ginny was a long-time parishioner and regularly volunteered for Meals on Wheels.
