WILLIAM "BILL" F.

Age 72, of Indiana Twp., passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Saturday, June 20, 2026. Beloved husband of 47 years to Nancy J. (Kotsenas) Knauss; loving father of William F. Knauss III (Clare), Steven P. Knauss (Megan), and John P. Knauss (Emily); cherished grandfather of Eleanor, Mary Beth, William IV, Evelyn, Dorthea, John, and William; dear brother of Pamela Turner, Nancy L. Knauss, and the late Robert Knauss and Kenneth Knauss; dear son of the late William F. Knauss, Sr. and Esther (Martig) Knauss.

A metallurgist by training, Bill spent his career at U.S. Steel and later Allegheny Ludlum (now ATI), where many years of dedication and hard work earned him the respect of colleagues throughout the industry. But it was outside of work that he truly came alive. An avid outdoorsman, he treasured time spent in the Allegheny National Forest and felt a deep pull toward the open landscapes of the western United States. He logged countless miles on cross-country road trips, often choosing the journey itself as the destination.

Above all, Bill was a devoted family man. He took immense pride in his children and grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to celebrate their milestones or simply enjoy their company. Whether at home or hundreds of miles away exploring a new corner of the country, he carried his family with him in spirit and in heart.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 26, 2026, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., at the WEDDELL-AJAK FUNERAL HOME, 100 Center Avenue, Aspinwall, where a blessing service will be held Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 1 p.m., with private burial to follow at Christ Our Redeemer Catholic Cemetery, Ross Twp.
