WILLIAM "BILL" G.

William "Bill" G. Sell, Sr., age 82, of McCandless - formerly of Reserve, on Sunday, April 5, 2026.

Beloved husband for 57 years of Christine (Diulus) Sell; father of Patricia Ferrari (Dean), William G. Sell, Jr. (Jonelle McClafferty), Michael Sell (Debra), and Joseph Sell (Amy Kingerski); grandfather of Robert Ferrari, Justin Ferrari, Keaton McClafferty, Caroline Sell, Madeline Sell, Joseph A. Sell, Ashley Sell, Emily Sell, Michael Kingerski, Caylee Kingerski, and the late Anthony Jacob Ferrari; brother of Joseph Sell and the late Lawrence Sell, Patricia Sell Ryan, Robert Sell (surviving, Marietta), and Linda Sell Anderson.

Family will welcome friends on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 388 Center Avenue, West View, PA 15229. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at Christ Our Savior, St. Boniface.

Bill was born in the Hill District in 1943 before moving to Oakland as a child, where he attended St. Stanislaus and Epiphany grade schools before attending Schenley High. After high school Bill had some success at one of his passions, building and racing stock cars on local circuits around southwestern Pennsylvania. In 1966 he enlisted in the US Navy, serving as part of a Beachmaster Landing Unit, stationed in Norfolk, VA and touring the Mediterranean for several years. He was dating his future wife Christine during this time, and they were married in 1968 in Pittsburgh. After the Navy, Bill began his restaurant supply sales career with Ecolab, where he enjoyed working with the people in the industry for over 20 years. His children came along from 1971 through 1976, and Bill rounded out his family man skills to include Little League coaching, ushering at St. Aloysius in Reserve Township and driving duties for family vacations to Virginia Beach and Myrtle Beach. He was able to find time during these years for another passion, golfing in the St. Aloysius church league. As the children left the house for college, Bill spent much of the 1990s serving as a bus driver for sports and activities for North Catholic High School, including school visits to the University of Dayton, keeping close to his kids' alma maters and proudly telling the tale of "putting four kids through North Catholic and UD" to anyone who would listen. Bill became a grandfather many times over, and happily spent his time caring for his grandkids and attending their sports and activities in all kinds of weather over the years. Talking about his grandkids became another of Bill's passions through the rest of his life.
