Of Presto, a native of Turtle Creek, died peacefully at his home, on Thursday, August 6, 2026.

Bill was the loving companion of Nora Faller. Bill was the former spouse of Diane (Dryburgh) Lichius. He was the beloved father of Bryan (Christine) Lichius of North Huntingdon, Shelly (Tom) Gallagher of Allison Park and Tracey (Charles Schmeltz) of Wall. Bill was blessed with his treasured grandchildren, Abriella and Bryanna Lichius; Grady, Graham and Gavin Gallagher; Logan, Bryce and Cayden Schmeltz and his precious great-granddaughter, Storie Schmeltz. He was the dear brother of Gary (Cindy) Lichius of Turtle Creek, Mark (Karen Baldwin) Lichius of Virginia Beach and Dana (Jeff) Wentroble of Penn Twp. Bill will also be missed by his pet canine, Missy.

Bill attended St. Colman Grade School and was a 1972 graduate of Turtle Creek High School. His early years helped shape the dependable and hardworking person that he became. For over 42 years, Bill worked as a manager for Giant Eagle at various stores, including Eastland, Monroeville, Irwin, and Murrysville. His long career reflected not only his dedication to his work, but also the trust placed in him by his colleagues and the many people he served over the years. For the past ten years of his career, he served as a District Manager with Giant Eagle-owned GetGo convenience stores where he continued to lead with experience and professionalism.

Bill loved to golf and played more than 100 rounds per year, a testament to both his passion for the game and the joy he found in spending time on the course. He was also a long-suffering but devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, following the team through every season with loyalty and hope. In addition, he enjoyed owning and caring for big classic luxury cars and also his two Mustangs, appreciating the style, power, and character of well-crafted automobiles.

Above all else, Bill loved family vacations and holiday gatherings. These times brought him his greatest happiness, and he treasured the opportunity to be surrounded by the people he loved most.

Friends are welcome on Sunday, from 2-7 p.m., at PATRICK T. LANIGAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY INC., TURTLE CREEK / MONROEVILLE CHAPEL, 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek, 412-823-9350. Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Joseph the Worker Church, Ardmore Blvd., Forest Hills (formerly St. Maurice), on Monday, at 12 noon.
