WILLIAM REID

Of McMurray PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 31, 2025. Reid was born on March 28, 1931, in Clairton, PA to Garfield Lowe and Mary (Grieve) Lowe.

He was a graduate of Clairton High School, class of 1949. He attended University of Nebraska, BS 1953, and University of Nebraska College of Law JD 1955.

He married Shirley Arlene Hoffman, his high school sweetheart, on August 13, 1954.

In 1966, he joined the law firm of Meyer, Unkovic and Scott, where he was senior counsel and past Chairman of the Probate Section. He was also a past member of the firm's Management Committee.

Reid was a member of the Allegheny County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations. He was listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the field of Trusts and Estates, served on the Probate section Council of the Allegheny County Bar Association and has served as the Secretary of the Tax Section of the Allegheny County Bar Association. He was a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Council, a member and past Chairman of the Pittsburgh Tax Club, a member and past President of the Estate Planning Council of Pittsburgh and a member of the Law Club of Pittsburgh. Reid was also a former Chairman of Harmarville Foundation, Chairman of its Investment Committee and formerly a member the Finance and Personnel Committee of Harmarville Rehabilitation Center.

He has served as Congregational Chairman of the Peters Creek U. P. Church and Vice Chairman of the Ministerial Relations Committee of the Washington Presbytery.

Reid also served as President of Lone Pine Golf Club. He was an avid golfer and was proud of his 8 Handicap which allowed him to play the Old Course at St. Andrews and Royal Dornoch.

Reid is survived by his daughters, Sherrill Lowe Wilson of Crossville, TN and Nancy Lowe (Zoran) Kostrevski of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Nikolina Kostrevski (Maxwell) Stonis of Dundee, MI and Alexander Lloyd (Kelly) Kostrevski of Toledo, OH; and beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley; brother, John "Jack" Lowe of Jefferson Hills; and sister, Molly Lowe of Pittsburgh.

Family and friends are welcome at BEINHAUER FUNERAL HOME, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray (724-941-3211), on Monday, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Tuesday, 10 a.m. until the time of Service at 11 a.m. Interment in Brush Run Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Peters Township Public Library and Brush Run Cemetery.
